Of course, creating a brand is not creating a logo. However, crafting a compelling and differentiated symbol that serves as the threshold to a broader brand experience is something that intrigues me. Not solely based on the inherent design challenge associated with that task but also because of the cognitive science and strategic thinking that informs the concept. Truly creating a brand is about properly aligning its core DNA with how it’s meant to be viewed, perceived and experienced. And first impressions matter.

Included here are a sampling of the brand trademarks and logos that I’ve created. These examples showcase the hand rendered approach I take to designing a brandmark. Some with ink and brush and others with hand illustrated typography.
