2013 marked the 25th anniversary of the launch of The Sandman comic book series. Created by Neil Gaiman, it focuses on Dream who is “the lord of dreams” and one of the Eight Endless (a group of all-powerful beings that are eternal).
In creating this illustration, I attempted to capture the dark, mystical, psychedelic nature of the comic books while telling a single contained story within the image. Since the series had achieved a major milestone, it seemed appropriate to create the moment in time when Dream’s publisher (DC Entertainment) honors him with an employee appreciation gift for his years of service…a gold watch.
My illustration was featured in the 2013 San Diego International Comic Con souvenir magazine.
